The Lamppost is my husband’s website, and has often borne the brunt of my online experiments. It has had a number of looks over the past couple of years; this is the latest here, and it’s probably undergoing revisions right now.
The Lamppost - late 2009
My husband liked the look of the StudioPress Executive theme, and for a while his site worked on a very slightly modified version of that theme.
But my frequent requests to try a few little changes finally got me his permission to change the site up a bit.
Since the inspiration for the site’s title came from the Narnia series, and since it’s all about English and books, we thought that it would be fun to give it a more literary look. This look was achieved by using some subtle paper and hardcover texture, serifed fonts, and a muted colour palette.
There are still some details to work out, but it’s almost there. I probably won’t even beg to change it again for at least 6 months.
